Italia prima in Ue
Oltre 10 mila morti ogni anno in Italia per colpa dell'antibiotico-resistenza: e' il dato che sara' divulgato al VII Congresso Internazionale AMIT - Argomenti di Malattie Infettive e Tropicali che si svolge oggi e domani a Milano, un dato che vede l'Italia tristemente in testa in Europa per numero di decessi per via della resistenza agli antibiotici. Tra le cause, la scarsa igiene nel lavarsi le mani, l'uso spregiudicato dei farmaci usati nel mondo animale, l'esagerato turn over dei pazienti nelle strutture sanitarie.
"Qualunque tipo di infezione, dalle piu' banali come semplici infezioni cutanee o urinarie, a infezioni gravi, quali polmoniti e sepsi, puo' essere causato da batteri antibiotico-resistenti. Sembra un paradosso, ma anche una persona che non abbia mai assunto antibiotici corre il rischio di avere un'infezione da batteri resistenti" dichiara il prof. Marco Tinelli, presidente del Congresso AMIT. Il problema delle patologie da batteri multi resistenti e' sempre piu' attuale e tutte le istituzioni internazionali (WHO, OCSE, CDC, ECDC) hanno sviluppato algoritmi e linee guida di gestione.
I numeri sono sconvolgenti. I report delle piu' importanti agenzie sanitarie internazionali (Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanita', Centro europeo per il Controllo delle Malattie Infettive, Agenzia Europea per la Sicurezza Alimentare, ecc.) riportano come queste resistenze determinano aumenti molto importanti nei decessi dovuti ad infezioni batteriche. I dati rilasciati a febbraio dall'Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanita' (OMS) evidenziano che 500mila persone hanno avuto infezioni causate da batteri che hanno sviluppato una antibiotico-resistenza.
